As gender lens investing gains traction, it’s increasingly being recognised as “just smart investing”. Sessions in this theme unpacked what it takes to make the case, bring more institutional investors to the table, and unlock more capital at scale across both public and private markets. Delegates worked on more compelling stakeholder narratives, and sharper gender-smart investment strategies that take all of their parameters and priorities into account.

Private Equity and Value Creation: A Fund Manager’s Guide to Gender-smart Investing
While allocators and intermediaries may share similar goals, the systems they have to navigate, the partners with whom they work, and the strategies they deploy can vary widely. This theme explored leading-edge investment mandates and innovative, evergreen, and alternative structures, including blended finance; how we might better support first time, diverse fund managers; and the role played by next-generation and female wealth as levers for unlocking more gender-smart capital.

There is a rich seam of opportunities at the junction of gender and climate finance. These interactive sessions shared best practices and frameworks to address risks and challenges, pinpointing what good looks like when applying this dual set of lenses. Delegates explored both existing portfolios and the opportunity to create new vehicles, while integrating an intersectional racial and social equity lens, in the context of “just transitions.”
