Moa Westman
Gender Specialist, European Investment Bank (EIB)
Moa Westman is a Gender Specialist at the European Investment Bank (EIB). She has ten years of experience in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in climate and environment related investments, policies and projects in the private and public sector.
At EIB, Moa co-leads the implementation of the Bank’s Gender Equality and Women’s Economic Empowerment Strategy and Action Plan that cuts across all geographies and sectors. Moa also leads EIB’s work on promoting synergies between social development and climate action. She is co-leading the 2X Collaborative Gender and Climate Community of Practice and in 2021 she collaborated with CDC and EBRD to develop the 2X Gender-Smart Climate Finance Guide.
Before joining EIB, Moa worked for the UNDP-UNEP Poverty-Environment Initiative Africa programme. There she worked closely with various government ministries to advance environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive policies. Moa developed and implemented the Initiative’s first gender strategy and authored several publications on the gender and climate nexus. From her work at Suzlon Energy Limited in India, she has hands on experience of private sector led efforts for gender responsive green economies.
Moa holds a BA and Master of Political Science from Stockholm University.
